southern africa’s first carbon markets summit
why sacm summit?
The negative effects of Climate Change are drastically taking toll on Southern African Countries that are grappling with a myriad of challenges and complexities of transition while battling with the adverse effects of Climate Change, at the same time attempting to drive the economic development objectives that require swift and strategic actions towards robust and effective policies.
While Governments are struggling to deal with these challenges, Private Sector players who are actively extracting natural resources in the region need to come to the table and partner with Governments to meet their Environmental and Social Sustainability targets. This creates a colossal opportunity for unlocking the ever-elusive Climate Financing through regional strategic partnerships for Sustainability and regional Emissions Offsetting Framework, putting the Paris Agreement into life.
The Summit brings together decision makers from Governments, Private Sector, Financial Institutions, Industry, Mining and Civic Society to a Sustainability Discussion Table to make commitments towards regional Sustainability Actions.
